Eli Lilly and Co.'s efforts to market its diabetes drug, Byetta, as stand-alone therapy could drag into next year, the Indianapolis drugmaker said today. The company said this morning that federal regulators likely will not complete a review of the drug application this year, and could extend it into 2009. Lilly and its partner, the biotech firm Amylin Pharmaceuticals of San Diego, submitted the application as a stand-alone therapy in the first quarter of this year to the Food and Drug Administration.
